Chicago A statement of purpose and any optional additional statements that may support admission. The statement of purpose should be an approximately two page typed and double-spaced document that provides an overview of your career goals, motivations for attending law school, and why UIC Law will help you reach those goals. The statements must be uploaded with your application.
UNIVERISY OF CHICAGO Introduce yourself to the Admissions Committee and help the Admissions Committee get to know you on a personal level. The personal statement should demonstrate your potential contribution to the Law School community beyond academics and should demonstrate your ability to communicate your thoughts effectively. The Admissions Committee generally finds a statement focusing on a unique personal attribute or experience is the most informative (as opposed to a restatement of your qualifications or résumé). While there is no page or word limit on the personal statement, the Admissions Committee values clear and concise written communication skills. The Admissions Committee typically finds that 2-4 pages is a sufficient length for most personal statements.
DEPAUL A personal statement is required and must be electronically attached to the application for admission. It should not exceed two pages, and may provide the Admissions Committee with information regarding such matters as intellectual interests and pursuits; personal, family or educational background; experiences and talents of special interest; reasons for applying to law school as they may relate to personal goals and professional expectations; or any other factors that will assist the Committee's evaluation of the applicant's candidacy for admission. Applicants also may describe, either within the personal statement or as an addendum, how their admission would contribute to the mission of the College of Law.
